Our favorite options for family friendly restaurants in Venice. Above all, keep it simple, in a town full of lesser-quality options that are expensive and cater to tourists, head off the beaten path to find authentic cuisine, and be content with a picnic! We would love to hear your recommendation, so please get in touch.
Aciughetta – when traveling in Venice with kids we prefer a simpler menu, and the local vibe of Venetian cicchetti bars as a more typical dining alternative to touristy cafes or snack bars. Just a few minutes walk from Piazza San Marco, Aciughetta offers parents a chance to taste some Venetian specialties, with simple delicious pizza options for the kids prepared in a wood-fire oven. The also operate the nearby Hotel Tiepolo, which has a simple family apartment for rent.

Antico Pizzo – we recently bumped into some Italiakids readers, a California family living in Paris, dining at Antico Pizzo with 2 kids ages 7 and 9 who were on a sojourn for great local cuisine in a family-friendly setting. The menu here is ideal for families as parents will have the chance to try truly typical and authentic “Cucina Veneziana” while at the same time there are some more simple options for kids such as pizza and even selections of antipasti that are less fishy (given that fish can be an acquired taste for kids). The setting and location are also ideal — just around the corner from the Rialto market on a quiet street in a historic building that has served as an Osteria for over 150 years! Weather permitting, try to book a table outside. The proprietors of Antico Pizzo also run a family-friendly Venice hotel – Corte 1321.

Osteria al Portego – cozy enoteca in Castello packed with locals in a quiet spot where you can casually grab a dish simply ordering from the front counter and eat outside on some wine barrels or simple tables. To dine inside a reservation is recommended.

Trattoria Pizzeria La Rosa dei Venti – the heavily seafood-oriented menu of local Venetian cuisine can sometimes be a bit much for young children. Here is a nice option where the kids can have a pizza while parents enjoy a reasonable menu of local dishes.
