KeeKee's Big Adventures in Rome, Italy

KeeKee is the adventurous calico kitty traveling the world in her hot air balloon and sharing her experience in the KeeKee’s Big Adventures children’s picture book series. Her second stop? Mamma mia! It’s Rome, Italy!

Italy’s beautiful capital city has something for all ages, even the kids! As one of the oldest cities in the world, it is the perfect destination for the second book. KeeKee has a wonderful time exploring the sights, sounds and tates of the Eternal City. We love the stories we’ve received of children following KeeKee’s adventure around Rome.

She lands in the purrfect place…Torre Argentina, Roman Cat Sanctuary. This cat shelter is among some of the oldest temple ruins in Rome.

From there, KeeKee heads to the colossal Colosseum, the largest amphitheater in the world, where she meets Gladiator Dog Alfredo. After a tour of the Roman Forum, they visit….

* Pantheon: Check out the huge hole, or oculus, at the top of the dome that lights the whole building.
* Bocca della Verità / The Mouth of Truth: In the Middle Ages, some believed that if a person told a lie with their hand in the mouth of this once drain cover, it would be bitten off.
* Trevi Fountain: One of the world’s most famous fountains, legend says throwing a coin over your left shoulder using your right hand guarantees a return visit to Rome.
* Sistine Chapel: Located in the Vatican Museums, the Chapel ceiling has 366 figures painted by artist Michelangelo. You can see why it took over four years to paint.
