Come Along on an Adventure for Kids in Venice!
If you like to travel the world, you’re not scared about anything (almost), and you like unicorns, then you are definitely ready to follow a bilingual book series.
Giulia is a simple girl, very curious and never afraid. She likes adventures very much, but sometimes her gusto for adventure takes her a little too far. Luckily, she has a great pet. Well, more than a pet – a magical unicorn named Sparkle. Sparkle is gorgeous, smart and helpful, but a little mysterious. He always comes to help young Giulia in a moment of trouble, but then he drops her and disappears without a reason.
In my first book, Giulia is traveling around to imaginary places like a witch’s castle and a dark forest, as well as real places like the Sahara Desert and the North Pole. Her adventures are many and on every page there is something new to learn about a place, a city, or a group of people. I like to insert real facts and places in an imaginary book since I believe everybody likes to learn.
In my new book “Giulia Lost in Venice” (at least I think this will be the title), Giulia travels to Italy to the most unique and magical city of all! Have you ever been to Venice? I’m lucky because I’m half American and half Italian, my mother is from Venice, and I have a chance to spend one month there every summer.
Venice is really different. There are no cars and many bridges and little canals. Everyone walks and takes boats to get around.
Giulia will have many wonderful adventures – she will get lost in the underground of a palace, she will escape from a dark masked man, she will fall out of a gondola… and Sparkle will be there to save her when she needs!
If you go to Venice, you cannot miss to have a tour in a gondola. When I went for the first time, I thought I was going to fall out, it seems to be so unstable.
Giulia Lost in Venice will teach you about Venice and its traditions, such as Carnival. Carnival, or as the Italians say, Carnevale, is an age-old celebration where people get dressed up in costumes and masks and attend many parties around the city.
So, are you ready to travel with Giulia? I think writing is something magical. You can let your imagination go and create your own world. Reading has even more magic. You can live your dreams through simple stories. Come along!
Author Michelle Longega Wilson is 8 years old and her first bilingual book in English-Italian quickly became an Amazon Bestseller. Her book has inspired many children to use their imagination, face their problems with a good attitude, maybe learn a little Italian, and mostly have lots of fun!
Since then, Michelle prepared a fun workshop “How to Write Your Own Book” where she talks to children about her book, her experiences, and explains how kids can write their own book. She has presented to more than 1,000 children (and adults) around the San Francisco Bay Area.
