When visiting Rome with kids, don’t miss the opportunity to explore some of Rome’s incredible parks and playgrounds! You might be surprised to find that just around the corner from the busy sights, there are fun jungle gyms with incredible views.
Castel Sant’Angelo
Just behind the castello down a ramp to the right there is a wonderful shady park with swings and a climbing structure, surrounded by ancient cypress trees in the shadow of this great monument that captures kids imaginations in itself. There is also a nice track for jogging around, and lawn for playing soccer.
Appian Way
The Appian Way and surrounding natural park offer a well-preserved glimpse into the ancient Roman way of life. Children’s imaginations run wild on this most ancient of roads.
Just beyond the bus stop you will find a bike rental office that is very helpful and provides informative maps and guides.
The Archeobus departs for the Appian Way from Piazza Venezia, Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00

You can also rent surrey bicycles for 4 people at the entrance, and there is a nice cafe near the theater.
