A few of our favorite Venice family vacation rentals, from studios to three-bedroom apartments (which are not easy to find among the vast selections of holiday apartments in Venice!). When scouting perfect holiday lodging to recommend for families visiting Venice with kids, we like simple, traditional decor with comfortable furnishings and kitchen facilities stocked sufficiently for families, central yet quieter locations, and special features like a terrace or canal view that will allow the whole family to experience the adventurousness and romanticism of this majestic city on the lagoon.
San Teodoro Palace (San Marco)
San Teodoro Palace is an apartment hotel just a few feet from the Rialto Bridge and around the corner from St. Mark’s Square, with one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments that can accommodate families up to 8 guests, with a total of 11 apartments. Select apartments have terraces with lovely views, and there is always helpful staff on site.
Corte Realdi Suites (San Polo)
The location of Corte Realdi Suites is peaceful in a charming palazzo where you will feel like a personal guest of the owner, Marco. The location offers a bit of calm, while at the same time a convenient walk to the Rialto Bridge. The property has four exquisitely decorated one- and two-bedroom apartments surrounding a quiet courtyard garden. Breakfast is an option, and there are many dining choices in the vicinity that are less touristy and more family friendly.
Corte Barozzi (San Marco)
Corte Barozzi Suites is located just off the Grand Canal and only a few minutes walk to St. Mark’s Square. Family-friendly lodging choices include double rooms, triple rooms, family suites for 4 people, and two- and three-bedroom apartments that can accommodate up to 6 people. This range of room selections and the convenience of the location can make this a particularly nice choice for mixed family groups traveling together, or a family traveling together with grandparents. A few of the rooms have canal views and terraces.
Residenza Bistrot de Venise (San Marco)
The Residenza Bistrot de Venise is set above the restaurant of the same name, where guests will receive a 10% discount. Located just minutes away from St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, there is just a very large two-bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms that can accommodate up to 6 people. The views from the rooms and the apartment to the interior canal below and the sumptuous traditional decor make for a very comfortable and characteristic stay. The apartment dining room has seating for 14 people, just in case you make some friends during your visit?
Housing in Venice (city center)
We stumbled across the agency Housing in Venice accidentally, searching for a very particular short-term stay apartment for a longer duration than typical in the peak of high season, and somewhat last minute. Searching the Internet in general for a 2-week span of dates was tiresome and produced few results. Discovering the business model at Housing in Venice was the exact solution I needed: they do not have a collection of listings, but rather, you send an inquiry to them with details about what you are looking for, and they scout it for you and come back to you with options, and then handle the booking. From the booking process to check in and check out, Helga and Kirsten provided a gracious welcome and wonderful customer service. This is a great solution for families looking for apartments with specific features or room configurations, and also for groups of travelers who may need to rent several apartments in coordination with one another.
